Orientation is your first step to becoming a Trail Blazer! Here’s what you can expect during this exciting day:
Campus Tours: Get a guided walk-through of our beautiful campus. Learn where your classes will be, find the best study spots, and discover all the resources available to you.
Student ID: Your JWCC student ID is your key to campus life. We’ll help you get yours set up and ready to go.
Log In & Student Portal: Learn how to log in to your student portal, your one-stop shop for class schedules, grades, and important updates.
Campus Security: Meet our friendly campus security team and learn about the safety measures in place to keep you secure.
Campus Care: Discover the resources, programs, and events that support your overall well-being and sense of belonging at JWCC. Learn about health and wellness services, opportunities to get involved, build connections, and make the most of your college experience both inside and outside the classroom.
Business Office: Get the lowdown on tuition payments, billing, and other financial details.

- What is the purpose of orientation?
Orientation is your chance to get familiar with JWCC, meet staff and students, and learn about all the resources available to help you succeed. Plus, it’s a great way to kick off your college journey with confidence!
- Will there be a campus tour?
Absolutely! You’ll get a guided tour of the campus to find your classrooms, study spots, and key offices like the library, student services, and more.
- How do I get my student ID?
You can get your student ID on campus anytime! However, for orientation, you will need to upload a passport-style photo of yourself with a plain white or light-colored background before your orientation date. Your photo will be used to create your official JWCC student ID, which you'll get at orientation.
Photo requirements:
- Plain white or light-colored background (or JWCC green)
- Facing the camera directly (passport-style)
- No angled photos, selfies, or senior pictures.
Already have a JWCC student ID? You do not need to submit another photo.

Please note: Photos that do not meet these requirements cannot be used to print your student ID for orientation.
- What is the student portal, and how do I log in?
The student portal is your go-to for class schedules, grades, and important updates. We’ll walk you through the login process and show you how to navigate it.
- Is campus security covered during orientation?
Yes! You’ll meet our campus security team and learn about the safety measures in place to keep you and the campus community safe.
- What is Campus Care?
The Campus Care Team is dedicated to supporting your overall well-being and helping you feel connected at JWCC. Through wellness resources, student programs, campus events, and opportunities to get involved, Campus Care helps you build meaningful connections and make the most of your college experience - both inside and outside the classroom.
- Can I talk to someone about tuition and payments?
Definitely! The Business Office will be available to answer your questions about tuition, billing, and payment plans.
- What if I need help with financial aid?
Our financial aid experts will be on hand to guide you through scholarships, grants, and loans to make sure you’re all set.
- Will I be able to visit the bookstore?
Yes! You’ll get a chance to check out the bookstore for textbooks, supplies, and JWCC gear to show off your Trail Blazer pride.
- What is the student panel?
The student panel is a chance to hear from current JWCC students. They’ll share their experiences, tips, and advice to help you make the most of your time here.
- What support services are available?
JWCC offers tutoring, counseling, and other support services to help you succeed academically and personally. You’ll learn all about them during orientation.
- What are pathways, and how do I explore them?
Pathways are your academic and career roadmaps. Advisors will help you explore your options and create a plan to achieve your goals.
- Do I need to bring anything to orientation?
Just bring yourself, a positive attitude, and any questions you have! We’ll take care of the rest.
- How long does orientation last?
Orientation typically lasts a few hours, but we promise to keep it engaging and informative.
- Can I bring a family member or friend? Will there be a parent session?
You are welcome to bring a family member or friend with you if you’d like someone there for support. But remember - you are part of the Blazer Family now, and we’ve got you! :)
We will not have a separate parent session, but we will provide parent information sheets in your folders, so families have the important details and resources they need.
